Together we are working to activate streets, support local traders, host events and experiences, and create more reasons for people to come into the city.

Uptown Townsville is inviting artists to help bring colour, creativity and new energy to the heart of the city.
As part of our ongoing efforts to activate the Townsville CBD, we are commissioning a large-scale mural that celebrates the spirit, culture and character of Uptown. This artwork will become a visual landmark and a place where people stop, take photos and experience the creativity of our city.
Artists are invited to submit their ideas for a bold and engaging mural that reflects the vibrancy of Townsville and the unique personality of Uptown. The process will involve community input, with shortlisted concepts shared for public feedback before a final artist is selected.
The selected artist will receive a $5,000 artist fee, with materials and paint provided.
This project is about more than creating a mural. It is about celebrating creativity, showcasing local talent and creating a new moment of discovery in the CBD.
