What Is Uptown
For the purposes of Uptown Townsville initiatives and mapping, we have adopted the same general boundary used in the Townsville City Council CBD Activation Incentive Strategy for the “City Centre”.
This area includes the traditional CBD around Flinders Street and the surrounding city blocks, extending through Flinders Street East and across to Palmer Street. Together these precincts form the broader City Centre where much of Townsville’s dining, retail, business activity and city events take place.
Uptown Townsville focuses on celebrating and activating this wider city centre area, connecting businesses, visitors and the community across the heart of Townsville’s CBD.
